Application of Dimethyl sulfoxide DMSO
Industrial application
As a solvent ( function as extraction solvent, polymers formulation solvent and synthesis solvent), Dimethyl sulfoxide DMSO can be used in chemical and plastic industry, for example petrochemicals, polymer engeering. It can also be used in renewable energy industry including Li-ion batteries etc. In water treatment, it can used for membranes. DMSO can be used a formulation solvent in paint, coating and adhesives, textile and cleaning etc.
Electronic application
a high purity grade, caracterized by an extremilly low metal content (<10ppb). Dimethyl sulfoxide DMSO is an essentials component in photoresist stripping formulations which are used for the manufacture of semiconductor devices and TFT-LCD displays.
Food, Medical and agrochemical application
as organic synthetic solvent of medicine intermediate, it can accelerate the reactivity and enhance the absorbility. DMSO can also be used for agrochemical formulation. For food and medical application, the DMSO should be with low water content and controlled PH value.
Veterinary application
DMSO is commonly used in veterinary medicine as a liniment for horses, alone or in combination with other ingredients. In the latter case, often, the intended function of the DMSO is as a solvent, to carry the other ingredients across the skin. Also in horses, DMSO is used intravenously, again alone or in combination with other drugs. It is used alone for the treatment of increased intracranial pressure
and/or cerebral edema in horses.
